Transporting of Large Steel Water Filter Tanks

Early morning traffic disruption on Ara Tapu

Starting on Tuesday 2nd April at 4am, the Te Mato Vai Project will be transporting five very large steel water filter tanks from the Avatiu wharf to the Avana, Turangi and Matavera intake sites via the Ara Tapu. The deliveries are expected to complete their journey along the Ara Tapu by about 6am. The deliveries will be on weekdays only, with the final delivery on Tuesday 9th April.


The tanks are approximately 3.4m wide and 4.4m tall and will be transported using a tandem steer truck, accompanied by leading and trailing vehicles with warning hazard lights.


Public vehicles will be allowed to pass through for most of the journey, but motorists using Ara Tapu between 4am and 6am may experience delays.


Below are the dates and times that the deliveries will take place:

  • Tuesday 2nd April 4am-6am - Avatiu Wharf to Matavera via Ara Tapu

  • Wednesday 3rd April 4am-6am - Avatiu Wharf to Turangi via Ara Tapu

  • Thursday 4th April 4am-6am - Avatiu Wharf to Turangi via Ara Tapu

  • Friday 5th April 4am-6am - Avatiu Wharf to Avana via Ara Tapu

  • Tuesday 9th April 4am-6am - Avatiu Wharf to Avana via Ara Tapu
